ep FAQ
Why do you feel that prenatal breastfeeding education is so important?

If you’re well informed before baby arrives, you’re more likely to identify potential problems early and get help sooner. It also helps streamline the process of getting help if you already have a relationship with a trusted lactation consultant.

What are some of the most valuable services you offer to expectant parents?

I offer “Breastfeeding Basics” classes that many expectant parents have enjoyed and found to be extremely helpful.

Will my insurance cover your services?

Insurance coverage varies with each plan. Call the benefits office at your health insurance company to ask about the coverage for a lactation visit.

What if my spouse isn’t supportive of my choice to breastfeed?

A determined woman can do anything! However, it will be important for her to find a supportive mothering community that values breastfeeding.

If I’m planning to return to work and want to continue to breastfeed, should I buy or rent a pump?

When considering whether to buy or rent a pump so that you can return to work, think about how long you plan to pump and what your budget is. If you’re planning to pump for just a short time or if you’re unsure how pumping will go, you might want to rent a pump, at least at first. On the other hand, if you’re sure you’ll pump for at least six months, buying a pump is the more cost-effective choice.

Can you help me select a breastpump and show me how to use it?

Yes! If you choose to buy a pump, I can help you choose the pump that’s right for you. If you’re planning to rent your pump, I provide hospital-grade pumps. With your pump purchase or rental, I’ll show you how to set up, use, and clean your breastpump, as well as tell you about specific pumping strategies to help ensure abundant milk production.
